Honors 394A: Comparative Ideology: Human Rights Movements
Below is the final essay for my Honors class on comparative ideologies within human rights movements. The prompt was to compare the viewpoints within the ideologies on whether gender and sexuality characteristics were the result of biology or social construction, and then choose the most satisfactory viewpoint. Finals week winter quarter was absolutely terrifying-- definitely the most stressful and packed finals week I've had thus far (finals Monday, Tuesday, paper due Thursday, final Friday evening). As a result, I did some prepping for this paper during dead week and the beginning of finals week, but I didn't start writing until Wednesday morning-- and I didn't stop writing until Wednesday evening. I had some great conversations with my friend Madeleine, who was also writing on this prompt, and those really helped inspire me and open my mind about the complexities of the question. I'm really pleased with how this essay turned out, and I think it demonstrates my understanding of the material as well as my ability to write a quality paper under time constraints.
